Snatchabook shortlisted for Oscar’s First Book Prize 2014

The Snatchabook has been shortlisted for Oscar’s First Book Prize, a new prize established by the Evening Standard in tribute to Oscar Ashton (son of James Ashton, the Evening Standard City editor), who died of a heart condition in December 2012.

Viveka Alvestrand, Oscar’s mother, says of The Snatchabook, “I instinctively know it is a book that Oscar would have absolutely loved.”

The prize went to The Storm Whale, which is a beautiful book. Congratulations to Benji Davies! We really enjoyed meeting the other shortlisted authors and illustrators at the awards party.
