Hello! I’m Helen Docherty. I write books about story-loving dragons, magical zebras, word-collecting bees, green-fingered witches, and how you can never run out of love. My stories are nearly always written in rhyme, which makes them easy to memorise and fun to read aloud. At the heart of all my stories sit the core values of compassion, empathy and inclusion.
Many of my stories are illustrated by my husband, Thomas Docherty, but I also work with many other amazing illustrators, including: Ali Pye, David Roberts, Erica Salcedo, Steven Lenton, Brizida Magro, Daniela Sosa, Taylor Barron and Gwen Millward.
My books have been translated into 27 languages so far (which makes me very happy, because I love reading and speaking other languages!).
