Superwolf

Luna was a little wolf (much smaller than her brother).
She brushed her teeth, like every wolf. She howled like any other.
Yet Luna had one aim in life: to be a SUPERHERO!
Her brother said, “Forget it. You’re a wolf. Your chance is zero.
Everyone is scared of wolves. They’ll run the other way.”
But Luna was determined: she would help to save the day!
It turns out that Luna’s brother is right: everyone is terrified of wolves! Will anyone let SUPERWOLF rescue them? Or should Luna abandon her superhero dreams?
Superwolf is written by Helen Docherty and illustrated by Thomas Docherty. It was published by Alison Green Books in the UK in September 2024, and has been translated into Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew and Polish.

Reviews:
“This sweet rhyming story is a wonderful tale of tenacity, following your heart and never giving up on your dreams. The illustrations are absolutely adorable, and how anyone finds Superwolf scary is a mystery to me! Both of my children have really enjoyed this book and they’ve both taken it away to pore over the illustrations by themselves.”

“Funny, heartwarming and beautifully illustrated, this book is a real favourite in our house. My son adores wolves so this is the perfect bedtime story for him. It’s vibrant, beautifully illustrated and has a gorgeous message about not judging by appearances or being swayed by pre-conceived ideas. The rhyming text bounces along, swooping and diving telling the story of Superwolf.”
– Fiona Eaton, an.eaton.readit
“Superheroes of picture book creation, wife and husband team Helen and Thomas, have brought us another fantastic rhyming delight in Superwolf. Gorgeously fun illustrations from Thomas Docherty accompany Helen’s lyrical text and make this a wonderful, uplifting story. Whilst we cannot guarantee we wouldn’t scream if we spotted a wolf on the prowl, we will definitely think twice about judging on appearance, stereotyping people and paying attention to those who tell us we can’t.”

“Helen Docherty is fast becoming my go-to for beautiful picture books. The story is lovely, focusing on how we can be whatever we set our minds to be, but also about how society prejudges us on what we look like. The art by Thomas Docherty is gorgeous. Another favourite of my daughter’s that she loves reading again and again.”
– Eve, Not Enough Bookshelf Space

“Such a great rhyming story for the KS1 classroom…bounces along as you read it out loud, and there’s plenty of places to join in too! The illustrations are wonderful – we love how colourful they are and they have lots of entertaining details.”
